We’re getting there, open Outcast fans! We’ve just started testing our first internal builds of our upcoming CryEngine 3 Tech Demo to make sure that everything is released into a brilliant and polished package. Some CryEngine 3 screenshots can be found below.
Adelpha looks better than ever this time around!
The internal test builds still need some work before we will be able to publish our work – expect a few more weeks before the newest release will hit “Gold” status and we can present it to you guys! This time around you’ll face some resistance during your adventure. This means that you can measure your strength against some AI foes and finally put that UZA-SH2 into some real use! Oh yeah, one more thing… look forward to see us rebranded with a completely new image as a celebration to our CryEngine 3 port.
This is also why we are really looking out now for a web designer! Check out the job description for information how to apply.
Have a great, cold winter! The Talan don’t really enjoy the snow though…
Keep a look out for more information somewhere around February. Things will get quite interesting around that time… ( if not… well, “Zort!”).

So far it looks very nice! Especially love the atmosphere ur creating in the picture with the little cabin, and the foggy city in the distance.
Keep up the good work, and i can promise u this will get profitable some day
What i dont like , is the voice of ulukai , it’s too arrogant , not funny enough hope you change it for someone more into comedy .
And hope you have Good music just liks in OC 1
Thank you
Thanks for your comments!
Cutter’s voice is only temporarily until we can find someone who’s more similar to the original actor. But like I’ve stated before: finding someone who’s american, who’s of the right age, who sounds like the original actor, who’s is willing to record TONS of dialouge and do all of this for free is not an easy task. As for the way he talks, this can be improved through better manuscripts – it’s just one of all the organizational obstacles we have to face. We’re learning with each release
Great job!
Really looking forward to your next build!
looking great so far! nice work guys!
if any, the lighting in the shadows looks a little flat, missing AO? maybe lowering ambient light could also help…but well, tweaking TODs is for sure something that finalizes late
and yes, you guys have some real fans here at crytek, keep rockin’!
nice
Fans at Crytek… that must bei motivating
very good job guys
lookin good, I hope there’s a new playable demo soon.
Guys, this is awesome!
I love the athmosphere in the Cabin Pics. Amazings shadows by the waY.
But the best thing about the pictures, especially the Desert ones, you use colours beside gunmetal grey and mudpatch brown. The overall vividness of the levels does a big part in drawing me back to the original Outcast!
So all in all, again, Great job!
Ps. now I need to get a new pc ’cause I couldn’t stand to play the Demo on any setting below “As good as the pics”…
It looks fantastic. You are doing a great job. Thanks for all your efforts!
It is very movating yes, thanks for the kind words everyone
yea very cool
i also cant wait for the new demo
but if there are some fans, cant they help you to solve some problems?
Those photos look truly amazing! After many many years i decided to play the original game as a hd patch was released(i used the gog version along a sound patch and the latest hd patch) and i was reminded how awesome and breathtaking it was.And at the same time it made me all that eager and hopeful you continue your work for open outcast.
Really if those incredible photos will be accompanied by similar awesome animations the results will be astonishing!
Keep up your amazing work guys!!
I’ll second the guy that noted that the picture with the cabin just feels “right”! Really reminds me of how Adelpha really made me feel like I was in a real and sort of nice place.
I miss the time when I was amazed at 20 polygons fighting on screen
In my memories it was so real and awesome. Games were surely a good way to stimulate imagination!
By the way the cabin in the second photo is wonderfully detailed,i just hope you manage to keep this level of detailing while also manage to keep the vastness and living feel of the cities.
And is that the city of Cyana in the background ? Heheh i only hope it is possible to make a lighthouse too !! (I just finished the original again after a decade and…its still as great as i remembered it!)
“I wanted to post a new screenshot but then I took an arrow to the knee…” this wasnt funny madcybi, post it please xD
LOL, not I understand your tweet
…now I understand….
ah i forgot to tell this post was on madcybi’s twitter xD
You do damn good job at graphics, but I just hope you don’t do the same houses all over again after a new engine is released. Why don’t you use Unity 3D instead? It supports way more platforms.
Why don’t you just release a screensaver or something. I mean, years are passing and I’m getting too old
CryEngine3 is far much more powerful than Unity 3D that’s why we are not using it. Unity is good for iOS/Android/XBLA/PSN games, if you want to achieve high end graphics this is not the best solution.
Moreover we are not actually planning to release the game on consoles (it would not be possible to do a free game on PS3/Xbox360) + those consoles would not support our level of details without heavy optimization and we do not have the resources to do such work.
We are not going to change the engine again don’t worry
they are about to release a new tech demo about their improvements (new hud voice, combat systems, enemy AI, new weapons etc) what else do you want to have?
and they told this was their last engine change
Great project
Truly amazing work, this takes me back to my favorite game ever in the most breathtaking way.
Keep up the good work, and best of luck to you all !
Looking at the screenshots not only gave me goosebumps but it put a smile on my face
Looking forward to the future!
I hope everything is alright!!! Your last photos were absolutely amazing but there is aren’t any news/talk for almost a month!
Everything is alright don’t worry the demo is coming
We are also waiting for Crytek to release the new SDK patch (hopefully very very soon) and we hope it will fix some annoying issues (which would make the demo release smoother for everyone).
