Since we announced to go Indie last summer we kept quiet for a while. As you may know the free CryEngine 3 SDK was released back in August 2011 what opened a lot of opportunities for Indie developers and modding enthusiasts who want to get more advanced results than the Crysis 2 SDK could offer.
However with great power come great unforeseen problems, or something like that. We don’t want to go into details here but we encountered a few things we can’t easily solve on our own, or at least didn’t expect we had to. But don’t worry, we’re still moving steadily towards a demo release…
Furthermore there have been some serious changes in the general project structure and other things we think you’ll like to hear/see/expierence, so you see 2012 is going to be an interesting year for anyone following our endeavour to create a worthy Outcast sequel.
Waiting will pay off, we promise!

No updates in seven months and now just a “we’re not dead” post?
Care to share anything else with us? I think we’ve been holding on for a while now.
Hei Zolointo,
there was an internal debate on whether we should post some screens of the redesigned Oasis and Island levels rendered in CE3 (what looks awesome by the way – especially the indoors of buildings and canyons thanks to Global Illumination!) but we decided to wait till we can provide you a more complete picture (read: full combat and UI).
I know it’s maybe not much for you but we’re aiming to get into a certain gamedev event that takes place at the end of January so we’re intensifying the work to get the last missing bits finished…
Those who follow you in this blog are your potential core fanbase.
Even if what you show us is somehow flawed or incomplete, I’m quite sure no one is going in drama-mode saying the project is shit or something like that.
So, please, keep your followers update about how things are going and don’t be afraid of misjudgment.
Doing so, you will hook our attention and keep us interested.
After you’ll still have all the time to make any improvements necessary to present your game to the general public, many months later, in the best possible shape.
My two cents.
Hey there folks,
We have our deadline for a new demo set for January 13th. We will publish progress then either way (all the juicy new stuff everyone wants!).
While I think we aren’t afraid of misjudgment, we did want to WOW as much as possible
. That’s all there is to it. And trust me, on 13th you will see stuff either way!
Thanks for being the loyal fans you are, we really appreciate your continuous support!

Well, deadline for NEWS ABOUT the new demo to be precise. The testing phase will take some time but we are confident to deliver something playable in the following weeks. =)
Wow! Thanks ArtAxiv, producer! :p
awesome, looking forward to that
Great to hear back from you guys.
YAY finally an update
))
honestly i was the one who asked the first screen from the CE3 version.
Actually there was a screencap released, its a 100×100 pixels big
But i realized its much more great in this way. Please do not show us screens!
BUT INSTEAD: show some 2D or 3 D artworks or anything else like that
I would be most happy with the 2D artworks. But 3D arts wasnt released since years i think. so idk
SOMETHING
I slept and I found out!
Release the Talanzaar artbook, similar to the okasankaar one!
i think then everyone will shutup for a while xD
Talanzaar is going to be epic, which is exactly why we can’t reveal anything about it at this stage.
. It won’t be long.
Read what Bart said about the demo though
i already posted some talanzaar artworks on the forum, those looks great! (check at the “Two questions” thread somewhere around the end)
Lol. But…but I never read the forums !!!
Great to hear from you! I am really glad to hear that you are still into it and looking forward to first results. Also, some artwork would be awesome, but don’t let yourself be distracted from the game itself!
This is incredible newses. What’s is the parameters? Longtime? D-Day? You guys have support? I mean this time so popular making HD version (like Monkey Island, Oddworld Strager’s Wrath, Beyond Good and Evil) and this is absolutly looking amzing, but whitout money it can be long for years. Any publishers, or known developers got contact you?
I’m so exited, and keep up the good work!
this is a nonprofit product Infogrames didnt allowed them to earn money with it
But they would deserve it. If there would be a secret donate button somewhere i would donate
Actually the situation doesn’t look that bad with ATARI, they even have some kind of system to manage inofficial sequels and games based on their IP. As soon as Oasis 1.3 reached a state that’s polished enough to send them we will see to get an official permission to continue our work and probably to accept donations for special purposes like organizing a developers meeting (and probably even a community meeting some day, depending on how well the Oasis demo and patches are received over time). We don’t intend to go commercial at this point however.
So you can already start laying some petty cash aside for D-Day (donate button for dev conference appears on page)
Tomorrow update yaaay!
Can’t wait my suggestion of a transfer to CE3 is coming true!
